Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Wu Guangrong Arrives in Uganda to Assume Office

On August 10, H.E. Mr. Wu Guangrong, newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Uganda, arrived in Uganda to assume office. Mr. David Wamono, Acting Deputy Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, and senior diplomats of the Chinese Embassy in Uganda received him at the airport.

Ambassador Wu said that he was greatly honored to be appointed by President Xi Jinping as the 19th Ambassador of China to Uganda. He noted that he is fully aware of the responsibilities and mission entrusted to him. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, political mutual trust between China and Uganda has continued to grow, practical cooperation across various fields has advanced steadily, and people-to-people exchanges have deepened. Ambassador Wu said he stands ready to work with the Ugandan side to fully implement the important common understandings reached by the two Heads of State and write a new chapter in the China-Uganda Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Mr. Wamono and his delegation welcomed Ambassador Wu to Uganda. He said that Uganda attaches great importance to developing relations with China and will provide convenience and support for Ambassador Wu in the performance of his duties, so as to jointly promote more fruitful Uganda-China cooperation.
